FAQ
-
Do you buy books?Yes! We do buy books. Take a look at our 'Sell To Us' section to get a sense of what we do, and do not, buy. Contact us at the shop to discuss your collection further.
-
Can I bring my books into the shop to sell?Yes, but ony if it's a small collection. We are only a tiny shop! So one or two shopping bags is fine, but please don't bring 5 or 10 boxes without arranging it with us in advance. It is also generally a good idea to get in touch with us first to check that what you have is something that we would be interested in buying.
-
Do you buy textbooks? No, we generally do not buy University or school textbooks. We know that these cost a fortune, and you're keen to try and get some of that money back. But sadly they just don't sell, and take up too much space.
-
Do you buy on commission? No. We pay for all book purchases up-front, either in cash or by bank transfer. The nature of our business means that working on a commission basis isn't practical.
-
Do you stock old or antiquarian books?Yes, we stock both old antiquarian books as well as shiny like-new paperbacks. Our physical shop has a selection of antiquarian books you can browse. However we tend to put our more valuable antiquarian books on our website, to buy online. If you'd like to see a book from the website in person, contact us at the shop and we'll have it brought in for you.
-
Are your online books available in your Edinburgh shop? No, our online books are stored seperately, and you won't find them on the shelves of our physical Edinburgh shop. However if you want to see one of our online books in person before before purchasing, just get in touch and we can make a appointment for you to come and meet the book in the flesh.
-
Do you buy rare, collectable and antiquarian books?"We both buy and offer valuations on rare and antiquarian books. More information on our rare and antiquarian services can be found here.
