OUR STORE POLICIES

Tills Bookshop is first and foremost a physical second-hand bookshop, located on edge of The Meadows  in Edinburgh. In the shop, we buy second-hand books (often from around our local community), and we sell  second-hand books. We also sell stationary, cards and the occasional tote bag.

The condition of second-hand books can vary a lot, so it is essential that you give your book selection a good once over while browsing. We do our best to inspect our stock, and will make a note next to the price of any damage or deficiencies that we note, but we will no doubt miss things once in a while. Because of the nature of our business, we do not offer refunds on books purchased from our physical shop, and so please check your selections over carefully before buying.

Although many of our books might look good as new, our main shop only trades in second-hand pre-loved books. We price our books accordingly, even when they seem unread. When buying books from the community, we try and offer the best possible price considering that we will only sell the books on as second-hand. This means that even if you bring books in that you've never got around to reading, we will still only offer you a proportion of what we would sell the book on for on the second-hand market.

We also run a small online bookshop, where we list beautiful and collectable volumes. These books are often quite unique editions. If at all possible, we recommend contacting us and arranging a visit to the bookshop so you can see the books in person before purchasing. However, this of course is not always possible. Please check condition notes and photos to get a good sense for the condition of the book before buying.

RETURNS AND REFUNDS

Because of the nature of our business, we do not accept returns or offer refunds for books purchased at our physical store in Edinburgh. We do our best to make sure that the books we sell are in good condition, and that any damage is noted alongside our price, but please inspect your selections carefully yourselves.

If your purchase from our online store arrives in a condition that is worse than what is described on the website and through our photos, you can return it for a full refund within 14 days of your purchase. We will pay for return postage. The condition of second-hand books can vary greatly, so please pay close attention to the condition notes on all book listings, and study the photos carefully. If you can reach Edinburgh, contact us so you we can make a time for you to pop in and inspect the book in person.

If you purchase something from our online store and then have simply changed your mind and no longer want your purchase, you can return your purchase to us in its original condition within 14 days. We will refund you the price of the purchase, but you will have to pay for postage. We will not offer a refund on any purchase that has been damaged since arriving with you.
