The Earthsea Trilogy, by Ursula K. Le Guin - UK First Edition, First Impression Set.

£550.00

The First UK Editions, First Impressions of the Earthsea Trilogy, comprising ‘The Wizard of Earthsea’ (1971), ‘The Tombs of Atuan’ (1971), and ‘The Farthest Shore’ (1973).

This seminal work of fantasy is renowned for its deep and introspective approach to genre, blending Taoist and Jungian themes, and tackling ideas of power and humility with a philosophical elegance that is rare in fantasy writing. The books were also groundbreaking for their early introduction of non-European settings and characters, challenging deeply entrenched genre conventions. It marked a departure from traditional Western fantasy narratives and is celebrated for its pioneering exploration of ethical and philosophical themes, influencing a generation of fantasy writers and readers.

These copies are very good, with some tape residue on the inner boards. The Wizard of Earthsea is more worn than others, with glue residue to the green end-papers and mild spotting throughout. Bindings are firm, and the dust jackets have sun fading to spines, some creasing and knocking, but are otherwise fine. The jacket for The Wizard of Earthsea is price clipped, the others not.
